Tour Dates: May 17-21, 2010
Summary:
She wanted to die, God had other plans.
Kristen Anderson thought tshe had the picture-perfect life until strokes of gray dimmed her outlook: three friends and her grandmother died within two years. Still reeling from these losses, she was raped by a friend she thought she could trust. She soon spiraled into seemingly bottomless depression.
One January night, the seventeen-year-old decided she no longer wanted to deal with the emotional pain that smothered her. She lay down on a set of cold railroad tracks and waited for a freight train to send her to heaven...and peace.
Miraculously Kristen's story doesn't end there.
In Life, In Spite of me this remarkably joyful young woman shares the miracle of her survival, the angonizing aftermath of her failed suicide attempt, and the hope that has completely transformed her life, giving her powerful purpose for living.
Her gripping story of finding joy against all odds provides a vivid and unforgetable reminder that life is a gift to be treasured.
My Review:
This is an extroaordinary reminder that even when we give up on ourselves, God never gives up on us! This true story of the suicide attempt made by Kristen Anderson is very deep and disturbing. I have never understood how or why a person would revert to taking one's own life as a solution to their problems but this book helped explain some things I never considered. I've never suffered from depression and in Kristen's story depression plays a significant role in her attempt. This is a powerful story of the amazing grace of God and how His plans will always prevail! Packed full of tragedy, loss and violence as well as love, redemption and survival, you will laugh and cry as you read Kristen's compelling testimony of a girl on the verge. A girl on the verge of womanhood, of death, of eternal damnation, a girl who's survival was no accident.

I always tought that reading made people more knowledgeable. This book seems like it would have lots of interesting information that could be helpful to someone else whose life cross my path. You just never know why certain things seem to draw you in. There ia a reason for everything. I am excited to read this book.
Yes, God's plan for us prevails always! This young girl suffered so much and yet has so much more than she suffered to offer others. Seems like her life story would be a great read and a firm reminder of the Faith Go has in us, His children.
p.s. You have an amazing talent to blog! <3
